
Getting Your SACMI Rotary Blow Molders Up to Speed
When you’re running a SACMI rotary machine, there’s no such thing as “taking it slow.” The cycle is relentless. You’ve only got a tiny window of time to get that preform heated just right before it hits the mold. If your heating is lagging, you’re losing money. That’s why we built our 400V IR radiators. We wanted something that doesn’t just heat up, but hits operating temperature now. Why 400V? Here’s the thing: by moving to a 400V setup instead of the usual 230V, we can push way more wattage through the quartz envelope without making the lamp any bigger. It basically kills that annoying “warm-up lag” you feel when you first start the machine or switch over to different preform weights. You get a much higher heat density per millimeter. In plain English? Your production line keeps humming at max BPM without the heaters struggling to keep up. The Guts of the Lamp Running lamps this hard usually means they burn out fast. To stop that from happening, we used a specific halogen fill and a precision filament. We spent a lot of time tuning the resistance so the lamp reacts the second the PLC tells it to. It’s instant. Plus, we made the connectors a direct fit. You can just swap them into your Krones-style housings and get back to work—no rewiring, no headaches. A Word of Caution Now, all that heat density is great, but it can be a bit of a beast. These 400V tubes dump a massive amount of energy into the oven. If your ventilation or cooling blowers are clogged or underpowered, you’re going to have problems. Too much ambient heat leads to deformed preforms or, worse, your lamps popping early. And do yourself a favor: keep those reflectors polished. Even a little bit of carbon buildup on the mirror kills the efficiency of these radiators. Keep them clean, and they’ll keep performing.
