
Getting Your SIG Blomax and Sidel Matrix Heating Right
If you’re a plant engineer, you know the drill. Trying to keep your heat profiles consistent across different generations of blow molding machines is a total nightmare. It’s one of those things that keeps you up at night. That’s exactly why we built this replacement lamp series. We wanted to bridge the gap between the old-school SBO units and the newer Matrix lines—specifically for those of you running SIG Blomax 4, 6, 8, and 10s.
Making it a “Drop-In” Fit
Here’s the thing: nobody wants to spend their weekend modifying lamp holders or messing around with the control cabinet wiring. So, we kept it simple. We matched the OEM dimensions exactly. These lamps just slide right in. We also used standardized connectors that actually lock tight. You won’t have to deal with that annoying flickering or arcing you get with those cheap, off-brand tubes that never seem to sit right in the socket.
The Tech Side (Without the Boring Stuff)
We use shortwave infrared tech because it hits those PET preforms fast. To make sure they don’t crack under the pressure, we use high-purity quartz glass that can handle the constant heating and cooling. We also tuned the wattage and voltage so the heat density matches your machine’s programmed ramp-up time. One quick tip, though: if you’re running these at full blast,**keep your oven ventilation clear.**If the air isn’t moving, that high-density heat will just cook your filaments and burn them out way too soon.
Real-World Setup
We designed these for speed. You can swap them into a Blomax 4 or a Matrix line and get back to work without having to recalibrate the entire heating zone. Since the spectral output matches the original lamps, you won’t find any of those frustrating “cold spots” in the preform wall. Just do me a favor:**clean your contacts before you wire everything up.**A little bit of oil or dust on the quartz can create hotspots, and that’s the fastest way to kill a tube. Keep it clean, and they’ll last.
