If you’ve ever tried to swap out heating lamps on a Sidel blowing machine, you know it’s not as simple as just matching the wattage. Whether you’re running the old-school SBO lines or the newer Matrix series, the fit has to be spot on. We build our infrared lamps to be true “drop-ins.” That means you pull the old one out, slide ours in, and get back to work. No tinkering. No modifications. Just a clean swap. The “Millimeter” Problem Here’s the thing about the fit: it’s everything. We spec our tubes down to the millimeter. Why? Because if a lamp is off by even 2mm, you’re asking for trouble. You either end up with mechanical stress on the quartz or a shaky electrical connection. We also make sure the voltage and wattage line up perfectly with your OEM power supply. You don’t want to blow a transformer or—even worse—end up with preforms that aren’t heating through properly. The Science (Simplified) We use high-purity quartz because these things go through a lot of thermal shock. They heat up and cool down fast, over and over. But the real magic is in the coating. We’ve tuned the emissivity to hit the specific absorption bands of PET. In plain English? The heat goes right into the preform wall where it belongs, instead of wasting energy by heating up the rest of your oven frame. Plus, we use standard connectors. No splicing, no weird adapters, no fuss. A Few Pro Tips for the Floor These lamps are designed for high heat density, which keeps your cycle times tight. You’ll get the same heating profile you’re used to. But a word of caution: if you decide to push higher wattage to speed things up, keep an eye on your cooling blowers. More power means more heat load. Check your exhaust temperatures so you don’t accidentally warp your components. One last thing—and this is a big one. These lamps are built to survive 24/7 production, but they hate fingerprints.**Keep them clean.**Skin oils on the quartz create hot spots, and that’s the fastest way to burn out a brand-new lamp.
