That’s why we built our best-selling units to fight off fog and splashes. We want to make sure your components don’t just burn out because of a little dampness.
Why moisture is a nightmare
Here is the thing about recessed installs: heat rises. It traps moisture right up against the ceiling. Then, as the heater clicks on and off, you get these temperature swings that create condensation. If that water lands on a live heating element or a terminal?**Boom.**You’ve got a short circuit or rusted-out contact points. To stop that from happening, we use sealed gaskets and hydrophobic coatings. Think of it as a raincoat for your heater. It keeps the vapor from settling on the quartz glass or leaking into the wiring.
Dealing with splashes
Whether you’re power-washing a floor or running a steamy industrial process, water and infrared lamps don’t mix. We’ve reinforced the sealing around the bezel and the housing. This keeps drips from hitting the lamp ends. It also prevents “thermal shock.” That’s the scary moment when a drop of cold water hits a red-hot element and the glass just… cracks. Nobody wants to deal with that.
A quick heads-up on mounting
There is a trade-off here. To keep the water out, we have to tighten the seals. But tighter seals mean less natural airflow. Because the internal housing holds onto more heat, you’ve got to make sure your ceiling void has enough breathing room. If you over-insulate the area or block the airflow completely, the unit might trip to protect itself from overheating. Just give it some space to breathe. We built these things to take a beating. By focusing on the seals and the surfaces, your lamps last longer and you aren’t spending your weekend climbing a ladder to swap out broken parts.
