
Why We Stopped Gluing Our Mirror Heaters Together
Let’s be honest: bathrooms are brutal on electronics. Between the steam, the humidity, and the constant temperature swings, heating elements eventually give up the ghost. The problem is that most companies just weld or glue those elements right into the mirror frame. So, when one tiny tube burns out? You’re stuck. You have to rip the entire mirror assembly off the wall and throw it in the trash. It’s a waste of money and a total headache. We decided there had to be a better way.
The “Plug-and-Play” Fix
We started building our infrared heaters as separate, independent modules. Instead of hard-wiring everything into the chassis, we use simple connectors. Think of it like a lightbulb. If a tube fails after five years, you don’t need a contractor to tear your bathroom apart. You just pop the cover, unplug the dead element, and slide in a new one. It turns a project that used to take hours into something that takes a few minutes. We spent a lot of time making sure the connectors can handle the heat and power without getting glitchy, so it just works.
The Trade-off
Now, nothing is perfect. To make this work, we need a little more room for those housings and connectors. It adds a few millimeters to the depth of the mirror. It’s a tiny bit thicker, sure. But in exchange, you get a mirror that you can actually fix.
Getting it Right in the Field
If you’re installing these, there’s one big thing to watch: the seal. Even though the elements are easy to swap, the housing still has to keep the steam out. If moisture hits those electrical terminals, you’ve got a problem. We use high-temp gaskets that can expand and contract as the lamp heats up and cools down. It keeps the electricity dry and the maintenance simple. No renovations required—just a quick part swap and you’re back in business.
